Notes to Myself, No. 1

Hey you. And by you I mean me. The proverbial "you" can totally read this too though. If you like seeing how people operate, the "behind the scenes" stuff,  which I do. I love that stuff. How creative people from get from A to B to Z totally fascinates me. It is way more fascinating when it's someone prominent, however, I totally get that. But you're here, so without further adieu, I have a Lifesicle listicle to establish.

  Some things...

1. Keep the wine glass away from the paint water. The first time was kind of funny. Now it's just getting weird and potentially very toxic.

2. Only four more arts to go until you can start redoing the bad ones!

3. Next Steps...

Story:
  • Edit that sucker again.
  • Take out all the stupid.
  • Look for more section breaks.
  • Edit that sucker again, again.
  • Hire editor/proofreader.
Art:
  • Redo the bad arts.
  • Make new arts to go with new section breaks.
  • Try to avoid redoing all the arts.
Test:
  • Scan all the arts into your computer.
  • Test print the arts
  • If they look good, yay! They probably won't though.
Art:
  • Redo the arts, if necessary.
  • If redoing, consider digital painting instead of real painting.
Design:
  • Book cover.
  • Set up layout in the digital container (Scribus)
Assembly:
  • Put it all in the container.
  • Format.
Prototype:
  • Test print the whole shebang-a-bang.
  • Tweak.
  • Spot test print.
Random:
  • Art legend. Digitize that. Decide if it's in or out.
  • Write copyright page.
  • Update author bio.
  • Write pitch/back cover blurb.
I'm pretty proud of myself for committing to getting the entire first round of art pages done. I'm an organic editor so I tend to change things as I go and the desire to redo has been nagging at me. But I know I also have a tendency to lose track of things so I've been pretty meticulous about tracking everything. I feel pretty good about getting to the assembly phase. Almost there!
